Ignite

This session will be held on Sunday, October 25th from 11:00am–12:00pm at the Empower4Life office (12037 BelAir Road, Suite B, Kingsville, MD 21087). The target age group for this session is 6–10 years old. During this session, we will be reading Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts, a thoughtful story about the difference between wants and needs, gratitude, empathy, and the power of noticing when someone else may need our help. Inspired by the book, participants will create “Warm Feet, Warm Hearts” kits filled with cool-weather essentials for children and families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Together, we’ll talk about how kindness often begins by noticing a need—and recognizing that even kids can do something meaningful to help. Join us on Sunday, November 29th from 10:00–11:30am at the Empower4Life office (12037 BelAir Road, Suite B, Kingsville, MD 21087) for a festive morning of kindness, giving, and holiday fun! Ages 5–12 are welcome to attend. We invite older teens to consider volunteering with our Holiday Drive receiving, organizing, and wrapping opportunities. During this special holiday session, we’ll talk about the spirit of giving and how we can use kindness to help make the season a little brighter for others. Participants will decorate cheerful holiday stockings for children living in homeless shelters this holiday season. Come cozy and festive—holiday pajamas are encouraged! We’ll also enjoy hot chocolate and Munchkins while we work. ☕🍩 Please include your child’s NAME and AGE in the “Comment” section. We can’t wait to kick off the holiday season with our changemakers!

Ignite is now scheduling private groups of children ages 5-16, such as sports teams, Girl Scout troops, camps, homeschool co-ops, neighborhoods, etc. Please email megan@empower4lifemd.org with the type of group, age range of children, and approximate number of participants. We cannot wait to work with you to make this a meaningful experience for your group!
